Leveling 1-85 with a Priest

Best leveling spec for priests in Cataclysm 1 - 85

Priest are one of the Best classes at the moment, they will allow you to become a great raid healer or dps (damage) that every raid will want. Like allot of the classes in Cataclysm, they have all gone through allot of changes, and priest are no exception.

Both of the healing spec for Priest have been buffed in damage, but they are still not as good as the shadow spec that you can go. Before the expansion shadow was the best leveling spec and nothing has changed with this new release. But if you love to level in the random dungeon finder then it's important to note that going discipline will get you into groups allot quicker. Always consider having dual spec on a priest for running random dungeons. Blizzard with the release of the expansion also made a couple of changes to the mechnic's of the game, one of these changes was the spirit also counts towards hit and this will be great for leveling and healing in dungeons.

Shadow priest damage is much higher than that of a holy or discipline priest while still providing you with enough self healing and mana regeneration to avoid any downtime.

Shadow priest is also healing healing himself while doing damage and has quite strong cc combined with dispersion makes him quite strong and hard to kill. This is also a good choice if you are playing on a PvP realm as shadow priests are not an easy target to gank.

It in general has the same core selections but, it has additional cc, interrupts and makes you allot more mobile, with will help you not get ganked and if you do run into problems then you will be able to handel them.

The spec is built for maximum damage and survivability, and with twisted faith talent allowing you to use items with spirit instead of hit, and allowing you to have a second spec as holy or discipline for healing in random dungeons. Here is how those healing specs should look like:

Naturally, the spec is adjustable but the core must be same. If your looking to never die and your not in a rush to 85 then you could go discipline but you really should just go shadow, because there is no real reason to go disc until 85, if you do go discipline then i would suggest getting the angel wings with smite and holy fire.

If you are shadow as your leveling spec and you have an ff healing spec then I highly recommend going discipline to 75 then after that respec holy becuase with the changes in cataclysm holy is better with lower level gear, and disc only gets good at about 350 item level plus.

To summarize, for leveling your best choice is going in shadow spec. Whether you're on a PvE or PvP realm, as a shadow priest you will have least trouble leveling. Make sure you pick up duel talents if you can, this will make and give you the fastest leveling spec ever, allowing you to dungeon and solo level fast.
